Official media GTA 6 trailers
Every trailer Rockstar Games has officially released, in order.
01 The confirmed answer
Rockstar Games has published two numbered Grand Theft Auto VI trailer articles and a separate presentation called Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look. The numbered record begins with Trailer 1 on December 5, 2023 and Trailer 2 on May 6, 2025. The Extended Look was announced on August 6, 2026 and published on August 27. Rockstar does not call it Trailer 3 in either Newswire article, so this page keeps the publisher’s labels separate rather than inventing a numbering scheme.
Trailer 1’s article places the game in the state of Leonida, including Vice City and beyond. It also carries the original “Coming 2025” window for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That window is a dated part of the trailer record, not the current release schedule. The article does not provide a runtime, a scene list or a catalogue of gameplay systems, and this guide does not infer any of those from the video.
Trailer 2’s written article supplies more text than this page previously recorded. It names Jason and Lucia, says an easy score goes wrong, and places them inside a criminal conspiracy stretching across Leonida, where they must rely on each other. It also points readers to the official game site and to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S wish-list pages. The later Extended Look article confirms a different fact about its own production: Rockstar says it was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5.
02 What changed
The official video timeline begins on December 5, 2023 with Trailer 1. Its accompanying article introduced Leonida and Vice City in writing and announced a 2025 release window for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That wording was accurate for the publication on that date. It later became historical when Rockstar changed the schedule, which is why a trailer’s embedded release line must always be read beside its publication date.
Rockstar announced on May 2, 2025 that Grand Theft Auto VI was then set for May 26, 2026. Four days later, on May 6, it published Trailer 2 with the Jason-and-Lucia synopsis now quoted by the official game home page. On November 6, 2025, Rockstar moved the release again, this time to Thursday, November 19, 2026. The two delay notices replace the earlier windows; they do not alter the dates on which the trailer articles themselves appeared.
The next official video publication used a different name and distribution plan. Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on August 6, 2026 for an August 27 Netflix premiere at 3 p.m. ET, followed by the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI site at 9 p.m. ET. On August 27, Rockstar marked it “Now Playing”, confirmed the later official availability, and stated that the presentation was captured entirely from in-game PlayStation 5 footage. This chronology is the confirmed public record through September 1, 2026.
03 What to plan for
Use this page as an index to what Rockstar has published in writing around its official GTA VI videos. Trailer 1 is the authority for the first dated Leonida description and the original 2025 window. Trailer 2 is the authority for the written Jason-and-Lucia premise and its May 6, 2025 publication date. The two Extended Look articles are the authority for that presentation’s announced distribution times, later availability and stated PlayStation 5 capture provenance. Each source answers a different question.
For claims about characters, places or story, quote only what the accompanying article or official game page actually states. A visible object, activity or location in footage is not converted into a confirmed mechanic merely because it appears on screen, and this text-only guide does not identify scenes. The written Trailer 2 synopsis supports the criminal-conspiracy premise across Leonida; it does not publish mission structure, player choice, co-operative play or an online mode.
For scheduling, use the release-date guide rather than an old line embedded in a trailer article. The active publisher date in the supplied record is November 19, 2026 after the May and November 2025 changes. For the August presentation’s distribution, language coverage and production notes, use the dedicated Extended Look guide. This division keeps three separate questions apart: what Rockstar named, what its text confirms, and what the current release calendar says.
04 Avoid the bad answer
The first common mistake is calling the Extended Look “Trailer 3”. Rockstar’s Newswire labels the December 2023 and May 2025 publications Trailer 1 and Trailer 2, but gives the August 2026 presentation its own title. Unless Rockstar applies a number, this guide does not. The second mistake is treating “Coming 2025” in Trailer 1 as the live schedule. That line belongs to a December 5, 2023 article and was replaced by two later official date announcements.
The third mistake is filling gaps in the written sources with visual interpretation. Trailer 2’s article confirms Jason, Lucia, an easy score that goes wrong, a criminal conspiracy across Leonida and their reliance on each other. It does not, by itself, confirm a mission list, a playable sequence, a named mechanic or the meaning of any shot. The Extended Look article confirms in-game PlayStation 5 capture, but that production statement does not make every viewer interpretation an official gameplay specification.
The reliable reading order is therefore mechanical. Start with the publication date and exact publisher label. Separate the prose printed beside the video from anything inferred by watching it. Replace old schedule language with the newest official date notice, without rewriting the historical article. Then follow the dedicated release-date or Extended Look guide for the current question. This prevents an old marketing line, an unofficial numbering convention or a visual assumption from becoming a false fact on the site.
