The game is absent from the 2026 Most Wanted list, despite published criteria covering releases after the November ceremony.

GamesRadar published its 2026 Golden Joystick nominations on September 25, the date listed for the shortlist announcement and the start of public voting. Its separate awards guide gives October 23 as the voting close and schedules the ceremony for November 11 at Troxy in London. One absence stands out to Grand Theft Auto VI readers: GTA VI is not listed in the Most Wanted Game nominations. That is a verifiable statement about the published nominations list, not a result from the public vote, a winner announcement, or an explanation from Rockstar Games; none of those later outcomes has happened yet.

The Most Wanted category’s published list includes Fable, Persona 6, The Witcher 4, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, among other titles. Grand Theft Auto VI does not appear anywhere in that list. The distinction matters because this is a shortlist for one award, not a complete catalogue of every game that has not launched. The absence can be reported exactly as it appears on the published nominations list, but it does not show that the organizers ignored the game, that voters rejected it, or that GTA VI has already lost an award. Voting is open and the ceremony is still ahead, so there is no 2026 result to report from this list.

Rockstar’s official Grand Theft Auto VI page currently gives November 19, 2026 as the release date. The Golden Joystick ceremony is scheduled for November 11, eight days earlier; the date on Rockstar’s page is the publisher’s current announcement, while the ceremony date comes from GamesRadar’s awards schedule. This puts GTA VI after the show rather than among games already released during the awards’ main eligibility period. But the calendar comparison does not settle why the game is missing from Most Wanted: the awards guide publishes a separate rule for unreleased games, and neither organization says the shortlist changed the announced launch date.

That separate rule is unusually relevant here. GamesRadar writes: “Games set for release after 11th November 2026 will be eligible for the Most Wanted award.” The same criteria say this year’s category focuses on games due in 2027 or with visible release windows. With a specific November 19 date currently published by Rockstar, GTA VI appears to fall on the eligible side of the stated date cutoff and to have a visible window. The word “eligible” describes who may be considered; it does not promise a place on the final shortlist. The guide does not say that every game meeting the timing condition must appear, nor does it explain how the panel weighed the category’s 2027 focus against a November 2026 release.

The guide also explains how the shortlist is made. GamesRadar says it invites publishers and the wider games industry to submit nominations; submissions closed on August 28. Its judging panel then selects the public shortlist with reference to those nominations, and the page says it cannot guarantee that every nominated game will be included. That means the public list reveals the outcome of the selection stage, but not the full pool it started from. The material examined does not identify every submission or nomination. It cannot tell readers whether Take-Two or Rockstar submitted GTA VI, whether the panel debated it, or whether the game was left out at an earlier point in the process.

There is another wrinkle in GamesRadar’s own coverage. A September 22 story about GTA VI missing a cross-award-season “Big 5” sweep says, while linking the November 19 launch to the November 11 ceremony, that GTA VI is “not eligible for any of this year’s awards.” The awards guide published for the shortlist gives a separate Most Wanted rule: games due after November 11 are eligible. Read literally, those statements do not align. The earlier story is about a multi-award sweep, which may explain the shorthand, but neither page clarifies whether it meant the Most Wanted category too. The published nominations list still excludes GTA VI; the available material does not say whether that reflects a nomination decision, a judging decision, or why.

The rest of the awards calendar separates the categories. GamesRadar lists public voting through October 23, followed by a separate Ultimate Game of the Year window from October 26 to 30, before the November 11 ceremony. The guide gives that award a distinct release window, which closes before Rockstar’s current November 19 date. That differs from Most Wanted’s explicit rule for releases after the ceremony. These are the published rules, not a verdict on GTA VI’s quality or likely popularity; no winner has been announced in the sources reviewed.

For now, the record that can be checked is the public Most Wanted list and its accompanying criteria, alongside Rockstar’s still-published November 19 date. The sources do not disclose a GTA VI nomination, a judging decision, or a reason for the omission, so each remains unknown. Nor does the shortlist establish whether its wording or contents will later be amended; the next meaningful evidence would be a new version of the awards page or a direct statement from the organizers. Until then, readers should distinguish eligibility from selection and a published absence from a public rejection. No leaked material, gameplay claim, or unannounced release information is used here.
